The Book

A career inside financial markets
The Trading Floor
Twenty-seven years inside the markets—and the people, decisions and defining moments behind the screens.
The story begins in London in 1997, with two suitcases, an engineering degree and five words at the end of a first day: “See you tomorrow at seven.” It follows a career through the launch of the euro, the global financial crisis, the European sovereign-debt crisis, quantitative easing, electronic trading, the pandemic and the return of inflation.
But the book is not simply a chronology of markets. It is a human account of the people behind the screens; of ambition, judgement, loyalty and pressure; of building teams and reputations; and of learning to adapt when the market—and life—changes the rules.
